Florida Atlantic Fires Willie Taggart After Three Seasons

Florida Atlantic fired coach Willie Taggart, hours

after the team finished the season with a 5-7 record, the school

announced Saturday. FAU had a chance at bowl eligibility,

but fell 32–31 in overtime to Western Kentucky,

which they won on a two-point conversion.

"I'm disappointed that we lost and I hate it for my players,"

Taggart said after the game. "He worked very hard and we got

opportunities out there and we didn't take advantage of them."

Taggart went 15–18 over three seasons at Florida Atlantic,

reaching the Montgomery Bowl in 2020, his first season, before back-to-back 5–7 campaigns.
