It provides 11th and 12th class students youth and technical institute student youth from schools at +2 board level, undergraduate and postgraduate at colleges and university level of India to participate in various government-led community service activities and programs. The sole objective of NSS is to provide young students with an experience of providing community service.
The first Republic Day camp of NSS volunteers was organized in 1988. The camp takes place every year from 1st to 31st January in Delhi, with 200 NSS-selected volunteers who are good at discipline, march-past, and cultural activities.
National Youth Festivals are organized every year from 12 to 16 January in different parts of the country by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs, and Sports in collaboration with the State Governments.
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has invited NSS Volunteers, Program Officers, N.S.S. Units, and University / Senior Secondary Council
