13 States and 3 Union Territories have signed a Memorandum of  Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education to upgrade their  schools under the Pradhan Mantri School for Rising India (PM-SHRI)  scheme.

Education Ministry told ANI that so far, 13 states and 3 union  territories have shown interest in the PM Shree scheme for schools in  several states ruled by the opposition with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan  (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) signed a Memorandum of  Understanding with

An education ministry official, on the condition of anonymity, said,  “Soon several states will sign MoUs with the education ministry for PM  Shri schools.

The official further added, “The upper limit for each state is two  schools per block. The MoU is the first phase. States will still have to  go through the next two phases before reaching the stage of the final  selection of schools.

It is being considered as a new scheme for the development of more than  14,500 schools across the country as it will strengthen the selected  schools with the help of the central government, state or union  territory government, or local body.

It will also provide counseling to other schools in its vicinity. PM  Shree Schools will also provide quality teaching for the cognitive  development of the students.

The PM Shree Schools scheme is to be implemented as a centrally  sponsored scheme with a total project cost of Rs 27,360 crore, with a  central budget of Rs 18,128 crore for a period of five academic sessions  commencing from 2022-23 to 2026-27. the part will be included.

These schools are to be developed as Green Schools, incorporating  eco-friendly aspects like solar panels and LED lights, nurturing gardens  with natural farming, waste management, plastic-free, water  conservation, and studies related to harvesting, traditions, or  practices.

Schools will be focused on the learning outcomes of each child in every  classroom. Assessment at all levels will be competency-based and  conceptual understanding and application of knowledge to real-life  situations.

PM Shree Schools will be selected through Challenge Mode. Schools will  have to apply themselves on the online portal, which will open four  times a year- once every quarter for the first two years of the scheme.

For the first phase, States and Union Territories will sign MoUs with  the Center to fully implement the NEP and make commitments to support  these schools to achieve quality assurance as specified by PM Shri  Schools.

Will complete In the second phase, a pool of eligible schools will be  identified to be selected as PM Shri Schools on the basis of minimum  benchmarks determined through UDISE+ data.

The fulfillment of the conditions will then be certified through  physical inspection by the States, KVS, or JNVs. These will verify the  claims reported by the schools and recommend a list to the ministry.
