Govt Schemes: Department of Fisheries & Fisheries Welfare Brief description of schemes being implemented by the Department of Fisheries The coastal region of Mahe, which is part of the state of Puducherry, is 1.3 km long. govt schemes: This is a coastal area with a lot of potential for sea fishing. In 3 small villages namely Parakal, Poozhithala, and Valavil. About 640 fisher families live here. The fisherfolk population is about 5.325. About 95 small boats and about 17 mechanized fishing boats are plying the coast. As Fishermen are a very backward and suffering community, the Department of Fisheries has directed the Central / State Govt. Various schemes are being implemented with assistance. Govt Schemes 2020 Fishing sea shore Projects being implemented with the assistance of the State Government Plan for ornamental fish farming, aquarium construction and freshwater fish conservationThe main objective of this project is to create awareness and public awareness among the general public about ornamental fish farming and its artistic conservation.Improvement of marine fisheries through mechanization, refund of sales tax on purchase price of diesel and assistance to small scale fishermen. govt schemes 2021 (A)) Assistance to small scale fishermen The scheme provides financial assistance of 50% (up to a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh) of the total cost (up to a maximum of Rs. 2 lakh) for the purchase of fiber boats and nets for small scale fishing workers. (B) Refund of sales tax on diesel- Diesel is supplied to boat owners by deducting sales tax on the purchase price of diesel required for fishing boats. Under the scheme, a boat was supplied with up to 25,000 liters of diesel in previous years. The limit has been increased from 2016-17 to 36,000 liters per annum (C) Wooden mechanized fishing boat / fiberglass (FRP) Funding for upgrade and maintenance of mechanized fishing boats. During the fishery closure period, the Department of Fisheries pays a maximum of Rs. 20,000 / - for a wooden mechanized fishing boat and Rs. (B) Fishermen's Community Hall: - A Fishermen's Community Hall operates here under the Department of Fisheries for the needs of fisher families, for their wedding needs, for artistic activities, for other activities, for non - fishermen, and for government purposes. (C) Financing the purchase of Auto Goods quarry Eligible Fishermen are provided financial assistance up to 50% of the purchase price on loan from Autorickshaw Goods Carrier Nationalized Banks for transporting fish and fishing gear. 6 Welfare Relief Schemes for Fishermen's Families During Natural Disasters and Five Months: - Financial assistance is provided to alleviate the distress and damage suffered by the fishermen during natural calamities, during the five months, and during the fishing season. (A) Old Age Pension Scheme for Fishermen: - Fishermen who are not able to fish healthily after the age of 50 are entitled to a monthly old-age pension as given below. (C) Financial assistance during the five months: - Rs. 2,500 / - is being provided to each fisherman's family for five months' subsistence. (d) Financial assistance to the family of the deceased fisherman / family of the fisherman who went missing while fishing: - 2,00,000 / - (Rs. 2 lakhs) for the immediate relief of the dependents of the fishermen who died in an accident while fishing and Rs. 1,50,0000 / - (Rs. 150,000) for the dependents of the missing fishermen. Scheme recommended by the Central Government 1 Savings Relief Scheme for Fishermen: - This is a scheme implemented for the fishermen to develop their saving habits and thereby provide relief during the five months.
